What is the main cause of engine blow-by?
Engine blow-by is caused by compression pressure in the combustion chamber escaping into the crankcase past stuck piston rings and/or glazed cylinders, and consequently over-pressurizing the crankcase. How do hard carbon deposits cause engine blow-by?
Hard carbon deposits are a result of inefficient engine combustion. Over time these deposits progressively accumulate throughout several parts of the engine, including cylinder walls, piston ring grooves, valves, fuel injectors, Diesel Particulate Filters, Exhaust Gas Recirculation valves, turbochargers, etc. Hard carbon virtually cements piston rings in their grooves, restricting their ability to seal effectively against the cylinder walls. Also, hard carbon builds up in the cylinder cross hatch, giving the cylinders a highly polished surface. These 2 conditions alone reduce cylinder compression and oil control, resulting in engine blow-by. Introducing remedial maintenance measures to effectively remove these deposits will restore operating performance and efficiency, while reducing wear rates to give longer engine life.
How do I get rid of rock hard carbon that causes piston rings to stick?
The problem of piston rings sticking is due to hard baked-on carbon in the ring grooves. This carbon virtually cements the rings solid, restricting the rings ability to expand and seal effectively against the cylinder wall, resulting in compression loss and increased engine blow-by. The carbon has accumulated over a long period of time and is usually rock hard. There is a large window of opportunity to correct this problem before wear and breakdown becomes a serious issue. By introducing 2 remarkably effective products to the maintenance routine of an engine, the heavy, rock hard carbon can be eliminated, restoring compression and oil control.
What can I do now about blow-by before it destroys my engine?
The answer is to introduce a very effective, easy to use, two-part package that directly addresses the root cause of blow-by. One part safely dissolves, suspends, and removes problem deposits by using an extremely effective detergent/dispersant type flushing oil concentrate to remove all contaminants from the engine, including sludge and gum from the oil-control rings. Will FTC Decarbonizer harm my engine?
FTC Decarbonizer modifies the chemistry of the fuel combustion process, to accelerate the fuel burn (explosion) and oxidize existing combustion chamber and exhaust system carbon. This action is harmless to engine components and is a progressive action, working first on the easier softer deposits, and eventually on stubborn hard carbon that would normally have to be chiselled off at overhaul.

Choose the most appropriate FTC Decarbonizer size for your particular need. Various size options are available –
FTC Decarbonizer is added directly to the fuel tank (diesel or gasoline) at time of fill up.
It is recommended to use a ‘double dose’ for the first few tankfuls of fuel so that it can do a thorough job of oxidizing tough carbon deposits in combustion areas as quickly and effectively as possible – this includes piston rings, ring grooves, exhaust valves, turbochargers, piston crowns, and deglazing cylinder bores. The amount or the severity of the hard carbon deposits will determine how quickly the oxidizing process takes – if there is not much carbon build up, the results will be achieved sooner than if there is a large amount of carbon build up to be oxidized. Every engine is different in this respect. Thereafter, the single dose rate can be used to continue to clean further deposits, and to keep the complete combustion area clean and working efficiently, particularly significantly reducing the production of engine-destroying soot. Continued use over time ensures maximum fuel efficiency and power, smooth engine operation, and less harmful emissions/exhaust smoke – all resulting in longer engine life and lower ongoing maintenance costs.
Large diesel engines: e.g. over 9.0 liter/550 cubic inch engine displacement
Add 16 fl oz per 100 gallons for the first few tankfuls of fuel (500 mL per 400 liters of fuel).
Thereafter, add 8 fl oz per 100 gallons of fuel (250 mL per 400 liters of fuel).
Small diesel & gasoline engines:
Add 1.6 fl oz per 10 gallons for the first few tankfuls of fuel (50ml per 40 liters of fuel).
Thereafter, add 0.8 fl oz per 10 gallons of fuel (25 mL per 40 liters of fuel).
As a rule of thumb, and depending on the engine’s fuel consumption rate, the following is usually helpful in determining which size is most suitable for your application –
- 16 fl oz of FTC Decarbonizer is usually enough to treat all small engines up to approximately 3.0 liter engine capacity (185 Cubic Inch) – passenger car, SUV, small tractor, or similar machines/boats etc.
- 32 fl oz of FTC Decarbonizer is usually enough to treat all engines up to approximately 6.0 liter engine capacity (370 Cubic Inch) – small to mid-size trucks, RV’s, large gasoline engines, tractors, or similar machines/boats etc.
- 64 fl oz of FTC Decarbonizer is usually enough to treat all engines up to approximately 9.0 liter engine capacity (550 Cubic Inch) – medium trucks, RV’s, tractors, or similar machines/boats etc.
- 1 gallon & 2 gallons of FTC Decarbonizer is usually enough to treat all engines over 9.0 liter engine capacity (over 550 Cubic Inch) – large trucks, tractors, other machine/boats etc.

Flushing Oil Concentrate - How much do I need?
Choose the most appropriate Flushing Oil Concentrate size for your particular need. Various size options are available –
Flushing Oil Concentrate is added directly to the oil immediately prior to the oil change. It is not recommended to be added to the oil and ran for extended periods of time. For the very best results, we recommend the following treatment rates –
Initial/Dirty Engine concentrated flush: add Flushing Oil Concentrate to the engine oil at 0.5 fl oz per quart of clean engine oil (12.5 mL per liter of engine oil).
- 8 fl oz of Flushing Oil Concentrate treats a maximum of 16 quarts (4 gallons/19 liters) of oil
- 16 fl oz of Flushing Oil Concentrate treats a maximum of 32 quarts (8 gallons/38 liters) of oil
- 32 fl oz of Flushing Oil Concentrate treats a maximum of 64 quarts (16 gallons/76 liters) of oil
- 64 fl oz of Flushing Oil Concentrate treats a maximum of 128 quarts (32 gallons/151 liters) of oil
- 1 Gallon of Flushing Oil Concentrate treats a maximum of 256 quarts (64 gallons/302 liters) of oil
Basically, the initial, hard-working, concentrated flush breaks down and suspends heavy, baked-on sludge – the sludge that causes piston oil-rings to block up and stick in the grooves, oil pumps to reduce pressure, and oil galleries to be restricted. It also dissolves the clumps of hardened sludge on the oil pan and other crankcase components. It assists in the breakdown of hard carbon on the piston skirts, lower compression ring and cylinder walls.
Continuing maintenance oil change flush (i.e. subsequent maintenance oil changes after the initial concentrated flush): add Flushing Oil Concentrate to the engine oil at 1/10th fl oz per quart of engine oil (2.5 mL per liter of engine oil).
Instructions:
INITIAL TREATMENT/DIRTY ENGINES
Bring engine to FULL operating temperature. Drain old oil and refill with new, clean oil (this can be inexpensive oil for this purpose). It is a good idea to replace the oil filter/s at this time as possible heavy contamination of the existing filter may occur during the flushing process. Operate the engine to warm up the oil again, then add Flushing Oil Concentrate to engine oil at 0.5 fl oz per quart (12.5 mL per liter) of engine oil. Run the engine at a fast idle, stationary, for 45 minutes. For most small and medium size engines, this means 1500 – 2000 RPM. For larger size engines (e.g. over 9.0 liter/550 cubic inch engine displacement), run at about 1200 RPM. After 45 minutes, stop the engine and drain the engine oil while the engine is still hot. Replace oil filter. Refill with quality engine oil.
Example:
- 5 quart/liter oil capacity = 2.5 fl oz (60 mL) Flushing Oil Concentrate
- 5 gallon (20 liter) oil capacity = 10 fl oz (250 mL) Flushing Oil Concentrate
- 10 gallon (40 liter) oil capacity = 20 fl oz (500 mL) Flushing Oil Concentrate
CONTINUING MAINTENANCE
Bring engine to FULL operating temperature. Add Flushing Oil Concentrate to existing engine oil at 0.1 fl oz per quart (2.5 mL per liter) of engine oil. Drive/operate normally for 30 – 60 minutes, then continue with normal oil change while the engine is still hot.
Example:
- 5 quart/liter oil capacity = 0.5 fl oz (12.5 mL) Flushing Oil Concentrate
- 5 gallon (20 liter) oil capacity = 2 fl oz (50 mL) Flushing Oil Concentrate
- 10 gallon (40 liter) oil capacity = 4 fl oz (100 mL) Flushing Oil Concentrate
Occasionally, on an engine with years or decades of sludge build up, a second follow up concentrated flush may be required soon after the initial flush (600 – 1200 miles, 1000 – 2000km). It is suggested to add Flushing Oil Concentrate to clean oil (as per instructions for the “Initial Treatment/Dirty Engines”), at a rate of 0.25 (1/4) fl oz Flushing Oil Concentrate per quart of engine oil (6.25 mL per liter of engine oil). Operate the engine normally for between 4 – 6 hours, then drain the oil while hot, replace oil filters, and fill with quality oil.

ULS Diesel Enhancer - How much do I need?
Choose the most appropriate ULS Diesel Enhancer size for your particular need. Various size options are available –
ULS Diesel Enhancer is added directly to the fuel tank (diesel only) at time of fill up.
Treatment rate: 1:8000. Add 0.16 fl oz per 10 gallons of fuel (5 mL per 40 liters of fuel)
Example:
- 10 gallons of fuel – add 0.16 fl oz (40 liters of fuel – add 5 mL)
- 40 gallons of fuel – add 0.6 fl oz (100 liters of fuel – add 12.5 mL)
- 80 gallons of fuel – add 1.2 fl oz (300 liters of fuel – add 37.5 mL)
- 150 gallons of fuel – add 2.4 fl oz (500 liters of fuel – add 62.5 mL)
As a rule of thumb, and depending on the fuel consumption rate the engine achieves, the following is usually helpful in determining which size is most suitable for your application –
- 8 fl oz – treats up to 500 gallons (1900 liters) of diesel. This is usually enough to treat diesel-powered cars, small to medium pickup trucks, small agricultural tractors & machinery, small boats, small generators, etc.
- 16 fl oz – treats up to 1000 gallons (3800 liters) of diesel. This is usually enough to treat diesel-powered mid-size pickup trucks, box trucks, small RVs, medium agricultural tractors & machinery, medium boats, generators, etc.
- 32 fl oz – treats up to 2000 gallons (7600 liters) of diesel. This is usually enough to treat diesel-powered large trucks, RVs, large agricultural tractors & machinery, large excavators, dozers, large boats, etc.
- 64 fl oz – treats up to 4000 gallons (15,000 liters) of diesel. This is usually enough to treat 2 or 3 diesel-powered trucks, or a combination of trucks and other machines, boats, etc.

- Engines: add at 2% of lubricating oil capacity

RMI-25 - How much do I need?
Unlike other cooling systems treatments, it is impossible to put too much RMI-25 Cooling System Treatment in your radiator. Theoretically, you could run 100% RMI-25 in your radiator and the only difference would be quicker results. In practice though, most cooling systems usually require an antifreeze component sufficient to effectively reduce the freezing point of the coolant in cold climate areas.
Add RMI-25 Cooling System Treatment directly to the engine’s cooling system’s radiator.
It is recommended to add 8 fl oz of RMI-25 for a cooling system with a capacity up to 5 gallons/19 Liters.
For cooling systems above 5 gallons, it is recommended to use a minimum treatment of 2 fl oz per gallon of coolant capacity. When used with distilled water only, and no antifreeze, it is recommended to double this treatment rate, i.e. 4 fl oz per gallon.
Select the most appropriate size RMI-25 for your particular need. Identify your engine’s coolant capacity and choose from the various size options available –
- 8 fl oz – can treat up to 5 gallons (19 litres). This is usually enough to treat regular cars, small pickup trucks, small agricultural tractors & machinery, commercial generators, etc.
- 16 fl oz – can treat up to 8 gallons (30 liters). This is usually enough to treat medium to some larger pickup trucks, and similar sized agricultural and other off-road machines.
- 32 fl oz – can treat up to 16 gallons (60 liters). This is usually enough to treat medium to large trucks, RVs, medium agricultural tractors & machinery, excavators, dozers, large ‘inboard’ motorboats, etc.
- 64 fl oz – can treat up to 32 gallons (120 liters). This is usually enough to treat larger trucks, agricultural tractors, and other similar large machinery etc, large commercial generators, or a combination of several different engines.
- 1 gallon – can treat up to 64 gallons (240 liters). This is usually enough to treat several large trucks & machinery, combinations of various vehicles, earthmovers, motorboats, truck or machinery fleets, etc.

Test cooling system pH level every 15,000 miles (24,000 Km) or 300 hours, and if necessary, re-treat the cooling system with RMI-25. Correct pH is 8.2 – 10. Simply use pH Test Strips to test.
Engines requiring antifreeze in the cooling system should have the ‘freeze point’ of the cooling system fluid checked during regular maintenance schedules.
