Poor Fuel Mileage & Performance

In the past, poor fuel mileage and decreased performance could often be remedied with a Do-It-Yourself engine tune-up. Nowadays, it’s a completely different story! Modern engines now run on highly modified and additive-blended fuels, are fully computer controlled, with hydraulic self adjusting engine valves and high mileage, long-life spark plugs, computerized electronic fuel injection, mass air flow meters, oxygen sensors, catalytic convertors, air intake sensors, air temperature sensors, throttle position sensors and a host of other electronic components. Diesel engines are in the same category, being totally computer controlled also, with more engine sensors and emission control devices than you want to know about.

What can cause low fuel mileage and poor performance?

Gasoline and diesel fuels today don’t combust as well as in the past, particularly due to modern manufacturing processes and the blending-in of various emission control agents. This situation contributes to excessive deposit formation in fuel systems and combustion and exhaust spaces. Contaminants in the fuel system and combustion chamber can quickly affect the critical components of the system – resulting in signals from the engine management sensors telling the vehicle’s computer to make adjustments to such things as amount of fuel delivery, valve timing, interval and duration of fuel delivery, timing and duration of ignition. For instance, just one fouled injector giving an incorrect spray pattern can cause the oxygen sensor to send a signal that the air/fuel mixture needs to be adjusted, which will affect the engine temperature sensor, which in turn will cause another sensor to tell the computer to alter the ignition timing and spark duration, which will cause the throttle position sensor to send another signal to the computer, which will result in the intake manifold sensor sending another signal to the computer. The problem just adversely compounds, all because of one fouled fuel injector.

Fix the problem before it becomes expensive…

The result, at the least – poor fuel economy/gas mileage and less than ideal performance. At worst, engine failure. Often when the problem gets bad enough, the usual method of fixing the problem is to remove the fuel injectors, and either have them ultra-sonically cleaned if possible, or just outright replace them. BIG $$$. And that’s just addressing the injector problem – that’s not doing anything about the other problems now evident caused by the fouled fuel injectors such as contaminated catalytic convertors or Diesel Particulate Filters, heavily carboned engine valves, coked Exhaust Gas Recirculation valves, contaminated intake and exhaust sensors – the list goes on.

That’s the bad news…

 

The solution – get the entire fuel system totally clean!

Here’s the good news – your engine’s entire fuel system, particularly the fuel injectors and fuel pump, can be totally cleaned of any contaminants that can harm the entire fuel system components just by adding Cleanpower Fuel Treatment and Fuel Injector Cleaner to the fuel tank, either gasoline or diesel.
